B.Tech Electrical Lateral Entry Admissions in Kerala University

Kerala University is conducting the Lateral Entry for the candidates who want to join the B.Tech program after diploma. Kerala Under this system, the Diploma holders are able to get into the Engineering programs from the second year itself. For this entry, the candidates need to take part in the State level Lateral Exam. The eligible candidates will get admission to different Engineering programs in different reputed institutes. DTE has the responsibility to allocate the seats, which is based on the candidates’ rank and availability of seats.

Eligibility for B.Tech Electrical Lateral Entry in Kerala University

The admission process depends on the rank obtained by the student in the exam. For getting admission in B.Tech Electrical course, the student should have studied Diploma in Electrical & Electronics. The students should have at least 60% in Diploma exam. There are marks relaxations of 5% and SC/ST students need only a pass. Those who are appearing for the last year Diploma examination can apply for the Lateral Entry exam. However, these students should obtain their certificate before admission. The maximum age limit for applying the Lateral Entry exam is 28 years. The students who are from outside Kerala are also qualified to apply for admission in self-financing institutes.

Reservation for Lateral Entry in Kerala University

The number of Government seats allotted in Government colleges and self-financing colleges are publishing before the admission. In private institutes, 15% of seats are reserved as management seats. 85% government seats are there. 3% seats are held in reserve for physically handicapped candidates. Such candidate must have more than 40% disability and should give Medical certificate. For defense quota, one seat is reserved. Those who are looking for admission through reservation should submit the appropriate documents with the application form.

Applying for B.Tech Electrical Lateral Entry in Kerala University

The students will get the application forms from the particular centers. The University also provides online application submission. The hardcopy of the application form should reach the specified address. The application fee is Rs. 500/- for general category. The Kerala university only charge Rs. 250/- for the reserved categories. The test duration is 2 hours. First year B.Tech topics are included in the exam. The candidate should have obtained a minimum of 20% marks.

Advantages for Lateral Entry Students in B.Tech Mechanical

The major benefit is that, the diploma holders can directly get into the second year of the B.Tech course. Therefore, the candidates can save one year. Practical classes are simple to understand. The students should have thorough knowledge in the related subjects.
